An integrated approach to map out strategy for natural disasters prevention, taking a closer look at earthquakes hazards as well as strategies for natural disaster preparedness and capacities assessment across Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the region. Time has been set aside to discuss improved satellite optical sensors technologies and GIS for high spatial resolution image data including remote recognition and mapping of geological structures that involves the integration of monoscopic, stereoscopic and topographic data analyses together with geologic field and geophysical subsurface data, thus allowing the extraction of a number of lineaments ascribed to faults, fractures or joints and permitted the real geometric definition of folds axes, horst and graben structures and thrusts, which is critical in any earthquake analysis and interpretation.
The organiser, Red Carpet Events Pte Ltd, in association with the event’s co-organiser, Events Actually Singapore are pleased to announce international Conference on "World Natural Disasters Prevention (Flood & Earthquake) Conference 2013”. This Conference will include participation from leading industry players to share their expert advices and perspectives on key issues and challenges in natural disasters prevention for flood and earthquake across Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the region.
This conference will be held 21 & 22 January 2013 at Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. The year 2011 was the costliest year on record for disasters with estimated global losses of US$380 billion and beyond 2013, disaster losses set to outpace economic growth with expected global disaster losses to hit US$500 billion. It is pertinent to focus on best practices on natural disasters prevention and effective respond across Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the region, in order to minimize future losses. Be updated on latest technology and natural disasters prevention’s construction and state-of-the art flood prevention as well as solution to optimizing earthquake mitigation
Disaster losses in across Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the region are likely to rise faster than economic growth unless there is an effective disaster relief and recovery strategy. Damaged caused by disasters, such as floods and earthquakes, is outpacing wealth creation. Economic exposure to disasters is increasing faster than per capita gross domestic product and the impacts of climate change on the severity and frequency of hazards will further accentuate trends in disaster losses in the future. As such, average global economic disaster losses have risen by 200 percent over the last 25 years. 2011 was the costliest year on record for disasters with estimated global losses of US$380 billion. The most expensive events included the Japan earthquake and tsunami and floods in Thailand which affected industrial areas as well as the magnitude 9.0 Tohoku earthquake on 11 March 2011 and the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake of a magnitude 6.3 as well as the recent flood in China in 2011, leaving a total of over 36 million people have been affected, killing at least 355 and with direct economic losses.
To respond with the disaster, countries have come up with various strategies and tactics to mitigate flood situation so as to effectively respond to flooding problem. In Thailand, the authority has began to map out a national flood plan costing some U$13.6 billion, over the next five years, to prevent a repeat disaster and secure investor confidence. In March 2011, Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al Faisal who chairs a committee for tackling floods in Jeddah has discussed a time frame to implement emergency solutions that would save the business city from recurring disaster. Work on some emergency plan for flood prevention projects have already begun. The emphasis should now be on proactive efforts to reduce risk, based on comprehensive risk assessments and the integration of risk-reduction measures. Against this development, World Natural Disasters Prevention Conference 2013 is designed to bring together practitioners and industry players, including engineers, planners, health specialists, disaster managers, decision makers, and policy makers engaged in various aspects of natural disasters prevention, protection and mitigation as well as providing a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences.
Huge number of companies and organizations were attended previous flood and natural disasters event. Join forward thinking companies and organizations that have benefitted with better insights and perspective that will steer them ahead of the competition as well as securing immediate business deals.
