Wednesday, August 29th 2012 - Seattle, WA – AeroMetric recently completed High Accuracy Mapping services for the City of Seattle’s high profile Elliott Bay Seawall Project. AeroMetric provided low altitude, high-accuracy mapping of the project area and existing wall. Our team's helicopter captured over 50 acres of high-density LiDAR data flying at 1,000 feet altitude. Coverage extended from the edge of Elliott Bay to Western Avenue, and from Bell Street in the north to King Street in the south. AeroMetric worked with True North Land Surveying, who provided the city with a current, detailed base map.
AeroMetric’s deliverables included a dense Digital Elevation Model, and 1"=20' scale planimetric data. High density orthoimagery was also provided over the mapped area. The existing seawall, built between 1911 and 1936, was not designed to modern seismic codes. It is also at risk from tidal action and wind driven storm waves. The seawall is a vital component in Seattle’s infrastructure, supporting the Alaskan Way viaduct, the ferry terminal, waterfront utilities, and a major rail corridor. Aero-Metric, Inc.
