Theodolite in Aerial Photogrammetry is a precise angle measuring instrument. It consists of a sighting telescope which can be moved in azimuth and elevation. The azimuth and elevation angels are very precisely encoded. Using two widely separated instruments operators can sight through the telescopes on a common point and produce the 3-dimensional coordinates of the point by triangulation.
